Kyiv-based Ratel Robotics has introduced a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) it said is designed for real-time reconnaissance and surveillance missions in electronic warfare conditions.
The “Ratel R1” drone comes with an optical system that delivers high-resolution imagery during missions, while a satellite communications setup enables stable control and data transfer in challenging airspace.
It is integrated with a camera with multiple zoom levels, essentially giving the drone eyes to detect and identify targets from a safe distance without being spotted.
With a tactical operating radius of 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), the company said the drone can travel up to 75 kilometers (47 miles) per hour and stay in the air for 45 minutes.
It can also support various airborne observation and fire adjustment roles, highlighting its versatility to take on a wide range of aerial missions.
“We continue to modernize and improve the Ratel R1 based on test results and operation experience,” the company said on social media. “Technology is changing warfare. People change history.”
Cameras and Communications Module
The Ratel R1 is equipped with an IP IMX415 camera capable of capturing 4K-resolution video, providing clear surveillance footage across a wide coverage area.
It is paired with a ViewPro A40 Pro observation camera that is already used in UAV applications for public security, firefighting, and industrial operations.
The A40 Pro features Starlight-class low-light sensitivity, making it a vital tool for long-range surveillance operations in day and low-light conditions.
The Ratel R1 also comes with Starlink Mini for communications, while it uses a CUAV 3 Pro GPS module for navigation.
