UK Opens $6.8M Hunt for Innovative Defenses Against Mass Drone Attacks

The Kirintec Recurve C-UAS is designed to jam a drone's operating frequency, testing its effectiveness against suspect/hostile UAS. Royal Marines Air Defence Troop is a small unit within 3 Commando Brigade's 30 Commando IX Group. Air Defence Troop provide point air defence for the Brigade. The Air Defence Troop normally use portable surface-to-air missiles in the form of the Starstreak High Velocity Missile system.
The initiative calls for an integrated counter-unmanned aerial system capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and defeating drones weighing less than 150 kilograms.
