The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has launched the second phase of its basic-level troop support program, guaranteeing monthly deliveries of heavy strike drones and ground robotic systems to frontline units.
Deputy Minister of Defence Mstyslav Banik announced the development on social media, saying brigades and regiments will also receive a range of logistical and combat systems.
The systems will be distributed to military units with trained crews capable of effectively operating the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ensuring the strike capabilities reach units equipped to use them.
Banik said the effort aims to support Ukrainian units defending key areas of the front, including the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the National Guard of Ukraine, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
It is also expected to improve how the country plans combat operations and allocate resources rather than simply “putting out fires,” with Banik stressing it could give under-resourced teams an opportunity to expand their capabilities.
Structuring Support
The basic-level troop support program accounts for the intensity of frontline operations and the demands placed on individual units.
Banik said troops will receive a specified quantity of drone systems, while units operating in high-intensity areas can receive additional support based on operational needs.
The project is being conducted in coordination with the General Staff of the AFU and its Command-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapaty.
