The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the creation of Task Force “Falcon Strike,” its first multinational, multi-domain suicide drone unit operating in the Middle East.

Headquartered alongside US Special Operations Command Central at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, the new task force will bring together aerial, surface, and underwater one-way attack systems operated by American personnel and regional allies.

The initiative aims to scale the use of low-cost kamikaze drones into a broader coalition capability and deterrent.

Falcon Strike builds on lessons drawn from Task Force Scorpion Strike, a dedicated loitering-munitions squadron established in late 2025 as part of broader US military missions in the region.

Scorpion Strike conducted the first aerial attack drone launch from a US Navy warship in December and later deployed unmanned surface vessels during strikes against Iranian port facilities.

“Task Force Falcon Strike will expand on Scorpion Strike’s success given the tremendous innovation happening among our regional allies and partners,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, commander at CENTCOM.

CENTCOM has begun inviting partner nations across its 21-country area of responsibility to join the new segment.

“Integrating and deploying our new capabilities together will help us rapidly realize the new possibilities that are on the horizon,” Cooper stated.

“The United States military has a lot of strong partnerships and friends in the region. We are collectively stronger when we integrate and deploy new capabilities together.”
