Quantum Systems has been selected as a founding member of the EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance, a new initiative aimed at accelerating drone development and strengthening Europe’s defense industrial base.

The selection was announced by the European Commission at the 3rd EU-UA Defence Industry Forum in Kyiv, bringing the Munich-based company into a group tasked with turning Ukraine’s battlefield lessons into next-generation defense technologies.

As part of the alliance, Quantum Systems will contribute its experience from supporting Ukraine’s drone ecosystem to help develop capabilities for European armed forces and prepare for emerging threats.

The company has expanded its footprint in Ukraine since 2022, increasing production capacity and working with local suppliers to strengthen industrial cooperation.

Together with Kyiv-based Frontline Robotics, Quantum Systems also established Quantum Frontline Industries, described as the first European-Ukrainian joint venture launched under the “Build With Ukraine” initiative.

The company has since formed additional partnerships with Ukrainian defense firms through the framework.

The New European Drone Alliance

The EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance brings together drone manufacturers, technology companies, startups, research organizations, and European countries under a single industrial platform.

It intends to speed up the transition of emerging drone technologies into operational capabilities while deepening defense cooperation between Europe and Ukraine.

With nine Ukrainian and European companies participating, the alliance is envisioned to create a more independent European defense industrial base focused on unmanned systems.

“This alliance validates a model we have been building for years,” said Matthias Lehna, vice president of Business Development at Quantum Systems.

“Together, Europe’s industrial strength and Ukraine’s battlefield innovation enable us to deliver capabilities at the speed of modern warfare while strengthening European sovereignty.”
